Guante is a rapper, two-time National Poetry Slam champion, activist and educator. Big Cats is a visionary producer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Sage Francis, P.O.S., TTxBC and others. Together, they’ve crafted an album brimming with substantive punchlines, gallows humor and a down-to-earth political edge, all over some of the most gorgeously banging production of the year. Featuring indie-rap visionaries like Toki Wright, Crescent Moon (of Kill the Vultures), Kristoff Krane and more, “You Better Weaponize” is one of the tightest, smartest, most singular projects ever to emerge from the lauded Twin Cities underground hip hop scene.

“You Better Weaponize” drops November 6. Exclusive pre-order packages including SIGNED CDs & extras are available at SFRstore here:

Loving it. I picked up the EP they put out a while back and I thought it was fantastic. I think I heard about it on here as well. I'm definitely interested in hearing more.

When I was in Greece (of all places) people were asking me about this album and Guante because they heard the song on our front page. In such an activist-heavy community, people are hungry for this kind of hiphop. When I told them I wasn't sure if I should perform certain songs of mine because they deal specifically with America's problems, they assured me that a lot of the content translates to their own situation. I suspected as much, but I'm still on edge when performing songs like Makeshift Patriot and Slow Down Gandhi in foreign countries. That said, people were eating it up. I also learned that people are using RapGenius to help them understand the lyrics and, sometimes, the meanings of songs. They're very particular about whether a rapper is actually saying something substantial or not. I love that.

The exchange between Big Cats and Intel Design at 0:09 and 1:00 on the comment timeline is LOL.

Song is dope. Can't wait to hear more.

I'm glad I saw this. Just wrote a song called "Spell Casters" that is pretty simlar lyrics wise. Happy to hear such a well produced song with this type of subject matter.

I forgot how negative annonymous people on the internet can be. haha It's sad that people have these types of reactions when someone tries to share something with people.

Definitely want to check this out. Ready for something new... And an album that doesn't mention Basquiat. Nothing against the guy, I am just sick of the trend in hiphop.
