well it just came outta nowhere, it wasn't left for the audience to figure out - it was a line that felt like it was put in for the slower members of the audience to help them catch up like "hey guys, this is what this is ok".
facepalming that i wrote whorde and not horde. oh well. I was drinking rum and listening to rainymood.com at the time - this is my excuse and if you deny it me i shall invent a time capsule, travel back and inform your ancestors that you are an unjust muppet |

Prometheus sucked.
Yes, it was beautifully shot and had some amazing scenery, but the plot and the characters were just WEAK. |

At no point did I feel compelled to care about the mole, or any of the characters. I shouldn't have to wait that long to know or be concerned about the plotline. I appreciate all of the acting talent in this movie, but this has to be one of the worst directing and writing jobs on a major film I've seen in a while.
Yeah. I found it very hardwork in the beginning. It paid off in the end as I found myself invested. Loved Gary oldman in it.
Haha.. Tried to watch this and was just way too stoned and tired to understand what was happening. I have to give it another go sometime.
FINALLY going to see The Raid tonight, a couple weeks later than planned. Can't fucking wait! |

I really enjoyed it. I think Ben Foster is underrated in a way that works for me. He's not really leading man material for a major film, but he plays the supporting role really well (3:10 to Yuma, The Mechanic, The Messenger, Contraband, Six Feet Under). Anyway, I really liked the simplicity of this movie, and saddened that it flew under the radar. This is sci-fi should be done. |

I liked Prometheus a lot.
The people who dislike it seem to primarily dislike it because it wasn't a tight enough story and they didn't like how characters could suddenly change their arcs and act totally against what they had previously been doing. Which is understandable and justifiable.
People who liked it, tended to like it because it's a film with a lot of lofty concepts and ideas to sift through, and the film is basically brain fire. I've not had a film that I've had more interesting conversations with more amazing people on my email and twitter than this one. It's a lot like Blade Runner and the first Alien film in that a lot of the symbolism and ideas of the film are going to far outlive what exactly random character said at random point in the movie. If you're geared to approach the movie in this way--you tend to REALLY like it.
And that's why it's a polarizing film because it does not give something for everybody. It is only serving the most neurotic and obsessive of it's viewers. It fails as a popcorn flick.
And I'd argue that it's nowhere near as aesthetically progressive or interesting as the first Alien film or Blade Runner. It's still better visually than most other sci-fi films to come out the last 30 years. But it is very much of this time, which is of a very shitty aesthetic value.
I'd also argue that it's the most quintessentially giger of the alien films. |
