Same. I like the El-P record as it is (btw, my favorite track is easily "For My Upstairs Neighbor"... and "Full Retard" but I've listened to that one a shitload before the album came out) but actual DJs who can scratch and not just yell dumb shit over songs have been sorely missing on tracks for many years imo. I love scratching. How often do you hear scratching on major releases nowadays? Not often at all. Good scratches on good rap albums are always welcome. |

Oh shit, totally agree. I didn't mean a diss towards scratching on record in the slightest. Love it to death. I just wanted to point out El-P's willingness to do different shit within his own context. |

So far it's Full Retard and Stay Down for me. Stay Down might have the edge. |

Thesis & Ceschi were opening for YelaWolf last week here in Ottawa, and guess who Yela's DJ was?
Abilities! Yela gave him a section to flex on the cuts and do some ableton (probably) stuff with triggers. Sounded great! I really appreciate when artists who would get the same number of people out to a show with no DJ nevertheless engage someone truly talented to throw down behind them, just because that's what they're trying to do here. |

Weren't the deluxe pre-order packages of this album supposed to be signed? Signed poster or whatever? |

Danny Brown fucking ruins "Oh Hail No." I'm not even talking about his lyrics. It's his voice I can't stand. It's so irritating.
Still, "Full Retard" continues to dominate my iTunes. The beat is slinky dope, and I love hearing El go so hard on the lyrical tip. |

I'm surprised, given that you find Danny's voice so grating, that you aren't put off by the Camu sample in "Full Retard." |

The way I see it you're either trying reconcile my personal tastes in rap voices or passively trying to express that you think Camu Tao had an annoying voice. But I don't think a short sample and an entire verse are comparable. And Camu doesn't sound remotely like Danny Brown, or vice versa. The latter has a really irksome style and tone. Camu was a champ. |
