| B. Dolan - "House of Bees Vol 2" mixtape + reviews |
|
|
We just received the CD's from the manufacturing plant! Now we just have to have Mr. Dolan sign them before they're shipped.
CD's, CD package deal, and DIGITAL version are available NOW at http://tinyurl.com/HouseOfBeesVol2
Fresh off the startling and undeniable impact of its lead single "FILM THE POLICE," B. DOLAN makes an unexpected return to drop off the "HOUSE OF BEES VOL. II" LP. Adding to what's already been an incredible summer for indie rap, Dolan and UK mixmaster BUDDY PEACE present 60 minutes of finely crafted material to shatter all expectations conjured by the word 'mixtape.'
HOUSE OF BEES VOL. II uses the lost art of the mixtape and its unconstrained format to return Dolan to his roots as an emcee while combining the raw honesty of 2008's "The Failure" with the impeccable execution and bombastic feel of 2010's "Fallen House, Sunken City."
The album features numerous guest slots, including production from REANIMATOR and MUX MOOL of Ghostly International. Also popping their heads in to lend bars are TOKI WRIGHT of Rhymesayers, noted Pittsburgh activist JASIRI X, and Strange Famous Records labelmates METERMAIDS.
The mix also features a new joint with Dolan's longtime friend, collaborator and label-head SAGE FRANCIS under the duo's newly-coined group name EPIC BEARD MEN.

Hey...this is nice. Very cool news. And Reanimator has some input, too? Epic Beard Men group? And Peace is the bees knees.
I like how that promo video's beat is a blues based beat, btw. |

Yeah! Love that beat on the promo. I've been hoping for something from the Epic Beard Men for a while now. Is that collaboration going to bear more fruit? Ie an album? That would be unspeakably awesome. |

That doesn't mean it's not a lost art ;)
Thanks to everyone that's been sharing this so far. The amount of pre-orders has been really gratifying, and I am really amped for people to get this in their hands. I love a lot of these songs and can't wait for the day folks get to hear em. I'll talk more about things as they get released. |

I can't watch the video right now-is the release date in that? I don't see it in the announcement. When does it drop? |

I guess I never read the linear notes very well before. B, I didn't know you produced. I like that Tin Soldiers beat. |

I'm always involved in what's going on with the beats to some extent, but have been slowly getting my skills together in that department...
It's usually involved developing a demo that has the main loop / riff / drums of a song and passing it off to a more talented producer ('Marvin', '2Bad'), but it's slowly getting to the point where I feel like I can properly take credit for a few finished songs. |

yesssssss.. awesome sample.
And the energy of the vocals... it's on some Bro Ali Freeway Chuck D level of hypeness.
can't wait for this album... |

That teaser video gets me amped. That's one of my favorite songs of this year. |

Yep. I've already played the video like a 100 times and it still hasn't even gotten close to getting wearing on me. So. fucking. good.
But.... Are we ever going to see the release of Who Killed Russel Jones? I've been waiting on that for like a year and a half now and haven't heard a goddamn thing about it. Don't get me wrong, this mixtape is looking like it will hold me over for quite sometime, I just need to know there's that song at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, and that trailer is slick is fuck, SFR is stepping up their video game. I also love that little scene in the hallway where Sage runs in and shoves B off to the side, it makes me smile. |
