Oh man, I just read the OP's blog page about the student in the back being stoned. And then I asked myself, why am I reading this blog. I think that is the problem with blogs. If they don't have a direction, then they are no fun. If they are specific and productive then they can be fun. And they also have to be consistent. As a teacher, the last thing I want to read about is someone questioning why they teach. I hear enough about that in the staff room. I realize that your blog is fairly new, but find a direction that will capture your readers. Unless, (and I didn't gather this from your blog but I have from others I've read) you only blog for pity.

Now seriously: did you make this thread just to post a link to your blog (twice)?
Does that FB page you have under the "WWW" button below your posts belong to your band?

Definitely not blogging for pity. I appreciate the comment about needing to find a direction in order to really keep a reader's attention. That's something that I need to figure out over the next couple weeks. I don't realy question why I'm teaching, but once in a while a nice reminder like the letter from a student makes me remember why I wanted to do it in the first place.

And to Flossin - I posted the thread because I actually enjoy reading blogs. I like insight into the lives of others. The link under the WWW was my band, but I changed it to the blog page instead.

I have a burning question: can you export a wordpress.com blog over to tumblr? If anybody knows that or tried it, let me know.

Bringing this guy's thread back for a bit. I posted my crappy blog way back, but since then I found out maintaining it kinda sucks, and it's a much better idea to start a website with some people I know and like, so we did that back in may, and it's supposed to cover as many aspects of 'pop' culture as humanly possible. There's a few us, from all over the worl and with many different interests and we write about movies, comics, games, music, books, we review stuff publishers send us (unless it's really terrible) and we do interviews with whoever we like and can reach. We also have an art 'contest' thing that barely gets any entries, so if you want to enter, knock yourself out! We hope to keep expanding et cetera, et cetera.

While I'm sure that's all very interesting, I thought people here might be interested in a few interviews I did with some hip-hop/indie folks:

- The man himself, Sage Francis, AKA Hostyle da Q.T. W.U.N.D.U.H. on beards, Andy Kaufman, old rap names and more.

- Stones Throw's Homeboy Sandman, on plenty of things, including his favorite Ninja Turtle.

- Sole, on his last record (which I'm surprised wasn't discussed here, because it was one of the best things out last year), OCCUPY, planting shit tons of carrots and shitloads of tomatoes.

- Gregory Pepper of Fake Four and "...and His Problems" on many more things.

Also, there's Sebso from Boardwalk Empire (who's a very funny guy) and many comics people, art people and so on (more here and more to come). Hope someone enjoys that. Thankyou.
