In the spirit of Halloween, lets hear some genuine stories of the unexplained. They gotta be first-person and no bullshitting.

I have never had any paranormal experience myself.

I've actually got one. I was staying at a house that my aunt and uncle own in Jerusalem's Old City (on Via Delarosa) in 2006. Keep in mind this is within the gates of the old city, so this house is a couple hundred years old. I had been hearing weird noises at night like footsteps, whispers, weird laughs, etc. I just thought that maybe they were neighbors or something. Nonetheless, one night I'm laying on a sofa, not sleeping, just eyes closed. Next thing I know, I get hit in the face by something. I get up and start yelling, thinking it was my sister. No one was around.

A few days later, I ask my mom if she had heard any stories about the house. She has a weird smile on her face, and proceeds to ask me why. I told her. She said that her sister (my aunt) told her that her family NEVER stays there, and that my uncle and cousins don't go there unless they have to.

Later on in the trip, my mom comes and tells me that something tried to gouge out her eye. He eye was red and swollen. My mom and I are both typically very suspicious of "ghost" stories. I also found out that my two sisters also heard things on our stay there.

Not saying it was "ghosts", but...

This one time, I was stoned and had the munchies. I found a Power Pellet in the fridge and I ate it, thinking it was a matzo ball. My buddies, Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, all turned into ghosts and I ate them too. It was the best of times.

My nephew, 5, creeps the fuck out of my sister on a regular basis. He talks about our dead grandma from time to time, as if she is like right there.

Also, he does that weird thing where he talks to people who aren't there when it's just the two of them.

Does he see dead people? Dunno.

My aunt has this house in Amish country, and she collects weird shit from the internet. She bought this charcoal painting of a little boy from a burnt-down mansion in Atlanta, and hangs it in the spare bedroom. The ghost sighting instances are as follows:

-Her 24 year old son stayed there one night, then told her he had a dream that a little boy was next to his bed trying to chill with him. He was positive it was a dream, though. Nothing ghosty.

-Later, her man's son, also in his twenties and knowing nothing of the previous instance, was woken up by a "little boy" in the room. Same deal, figured it was a dream. But this is the 2nd time it has happened in this room.

-My aforementioned nephew, still 5, is chilling in this guest room with my sister. He starts talking to the painting, saying that the kid wants to play. My sister freaks the fuck out and the rest of the trip is ruined.

Nothing nuts, but definitely creepy. Not as crazy as a ghost trying to gouge your eyes out though. thats next level.

First apartment in college, Northridge, CA.

I am asleep facing away from the bedroom door way. I roll over on my side, open my eyes, and see a grey old man in overalls standing outside of my room in the hallway. I become frozen with fear and just roll over, heart racing, just lay there afraid to take another look until I fall asleep. I later describe the same figure that my roommate next door saw.

Next time I'm alone in the house, I yell at whatever I think might be occupying the place. "Get the fuck out! You aren't welcome here!" I then burn some white sage around the house. After that I am not haunted anymore.

I have one. I've never really had any unexplained paranormal phenomenon, but just some weird thing that happened when I was young, I was probably about 10 or 11 and I was sitting on my brother's bed with him. I remember it being dark outside and we were in our pajamas, so it had to be after 9 oclock. We were playing with G.I. Joes when all of a sudden there felt like there was this rolling bump that swept under the bed, almost like something had pushed up on the mattress.

I remember looking at my brother and saying "Did you feel that?"
His eyes were wide and he acknowledged with a "Yeah, what was that?"

As any young kids would do, we sat on top of his bed scared shitless that some type of monster was going to eat us if our feet hit the ground, I don't really remember if either one of us looked under the bed the whole night. That memory has stuck with me since then.

Oh my gosh, my favorite topic!!

Weird stuff happens to me so often that its hard to pick one from the rest.

I fully believe that my parent's house -specifically my old room- is haunted. Their dog refuses to go in that room, if we have to house sit my fiance refuses to stay in that room and he's not one to get scared or creeped out by anything. He'd rather sleep in my parent's bed or upstairs on a futon mat on the floor...

I can't tell you how many times I have been in my room doing something quiet like reading or drawing when I hear my mom's voice call me from the basement. Or, hear music playing. Not just muffled music, but could pick out the song or hear the DJ. Of course when I would go down there, no one was there. Ooooo, spookytimez.

But, the best story is probably when I got a new bed- the frame was in my grandma's attic and was her great aunt's (she's awesome at keeping old family stuff around). One of the first nights I slept in it I woke up feeling this intense pressure on my right hip like someone was pushing down on it. I think I fell back asleep and was later woken up by the feeling of my sheets being shaken and feeling the wind in my face. I distinctly remember thinking "Huh. Well, I don't think I could be shaking the sheets this fast, what's going on?".

Aside from that, I think its really interesting that so many cultures have stories of the "Night Hag"- this creature that comes and sits on you in the middle of the night and tries to suck the life from ya:

I've heard it called a "pressure ghost." It happened to me a couple times when I was a teenager. I didn't know what it was until I read about it when I was older. Basically, when you're in REM sleep, you're body is functionally paralyzed. It's extremely rare, but you can actually wake up out of this deep sleep as your body is still paralyzed. It can also come with vivid hallucinations which is probably what makes people believe it's some kind of paranormal thing.

It happened to me like twice in one week for some reason, but has never happened again. I distinctly remember waking up, not being able to move a muscle in my body, and seeing birds circling over me. It was pretty much the most insanely frightening thing you can imagine. I was quite sure that I was about to be escorted into hell or something.

This is sleep paralysis. Before people were able to study it and make sense of it, supernatural tales were set into place. Such is our way.

My buddy had that. I forget what it's called, it's a sleep disorder, or related to one though. But he woke up in the middle of the night to hear this crazy noise (I think it was a voice speaking extremely slow, low pitched, and indiscernible), couldn't move a muscle, and saw a hooded figure with light surrounding it. I think it is caused by lack of sleep or changing your sleep-patterns abruptly.

Still, it's creepy as fuck. You're essentially dreaming in reality.

Some people see religious figures, creepy crawlies, people, etc.

Edit: Sage already clarified what it is. Haha. Thanks

Regarding Breakfast's story. I used to have a buddy I knew since I was 6, and his brother was always a little weird every once in a while. He grew out of it. Anyway, he would randomly get up, look at the ceiling or into the hallway, say, "I'm coming" or "Ok." He described this thing he was talking to as the "spider lady", mind you, he was five or six years old. Apparently, when his mom was giving birth to him, she saw this crazy looking lady on the ceiling looking down at her. She said she had seen this lady before at a funeral a couple days before. They all were kinda weird, in their own way, now that I think of it. Haha. But yeah, my buddy and his mom followed him into his room once, and he was talking to this spider lady. He shut off the lights, and was about to shut the door, when my buddy blocked that shit. Their house was always pretty creepy. Their dogs would flip the shit out at things, and look up at things that weren't there for too long.

The sleep paralysis happens to me from time to time. I'll wake up and not be able to move or open my eyes. I figured out to count to 5 and then make a sudden burst of movement. It was intense sometimes. Freaked a few partners out from shooting up in the middle of the night.

Had a vivid dream of roaming around a house with a clown apparition that had features of a frightening nature. Moved into the house approx. 6 months later, visually witnessed a single strand of smoke ascend away from any electrical appliances, no fire was present.

Same house, a few houses down at the local park, me and a friend witnessed a small circle of white lights pan around a night sky. Seemingly with no source of origin. Lights had a tattered unusual form.

Earlier on was living in another house. Fell asleep on the floor in brothers room. Woke up 2-2:30 am, felt seemingly abnormal cold sensation. Went to my room in bed, put covers over head. Felt 'presence' cold sensation follow, heard footsteps follow, felt as if being watched.

*I have experienced this phenomena elsewhere. Was meditating on a park bench. Did not really have a feeling of being watched, but i opened my eyes during sitting on a park bench, turned 130 degrees to the right. Person visible in second story of house looking at me through window. Sensing of someones attention?*

Same house. Woke up early morning went out to oval across the road in underwear straight out of bed. Seemingly no control of body, eyes open. Went near centre of oval regained control of body, went back home. Sleep walking with eyes open?

That house was rented from a youth, his dad died there. I broke a window accidentally, albeit stupidly. My mother paid for it, the landowner claimed he paid for it. Dude still holds a grudge against me and thinks i owe him the money for that window. The window incident occured after the experiences of an unknown nature.
