| What Artists do you have faith in? and when do you lose it |
|
|
example- For the longest time I had faith in DeLa I truly believed people didn't realize how great they were..then it started to unravel with the Art Official Intelligence album..they tried to make radio songs and go away from what they do best..the last one mosaic thump just put the nail in the coffin...same thing pretty much when cube put out Lethal injection
artists I currently have faith in
-Aceyalone
-The Coup
-Sage
-Cee-Lo
-Outkast
-Atmosphere
oh P.S. When my favorite groups fell off I used to take it personal |

i have faith in many artists. i lose faith in them when they openly and blatanly contradict their previously stated beliefs for reasons that went againt their former belief systems. |

good topic. Iwas just thinking about this the other day, who Ireally believed in, while im the first to admit im a little jaded from years of "scenes"..but I eally feel, or believe in the following...
Sage-its crazy, i feel like this guy is a old good friend of mine, but when i talk to him i dont know what to say..so i give him my favorite cd.
Radiohead- theyvebeen around for so long i think they really do "keep it real" Thom York wouldent have it anyother way, i think they'd quit before bullshitting..
Interpol-Paul, the singer writes so good, its too bad the US version didnt come w/ lyrics, It hasnt left my cd player in 6 months,'Stella was a Diver and Shes Allways Down'
Atmosphere-we all know why
Terror-LAxHC ,Scott Vogul believes in evey word that comes out of his mouth, nothing fake about thses guys..
Unconquered, old Reno SxE band that was so down for the cause, whatever that means, good friends of mine and nomatter who was talking shit or whatever styles or trends they allways stayed true to thier beliefs..
Thats all for now, im shure ill think of a ton more after i post this.. |

I love that song. So very very much.
I have faith in the Wu. Specifically Ghostface. I'll check out anything they put out. I always think the next album is the comeback.
I have faith in the stuff put out on the anticon label. Not their side projects always. But I think I've bought damn near every official release(which when you think about it is only been: Themselves, Sage, Alias, Sole's album, and Odd Nosdam over the past year. All of those have been g-r-r-eat.
I also believe in Buck 65 and Sage.
The Silver Jews. I'll buy anything they make.
And Modest Mouse. |

Aceyalone is one my favorite rappers. That said, I wouldn't be suprised if he falls off. Hell people thought he already fell off. For someone as talented as Acey is, he does sometimes come incredibly wack. I don't know how, but it happens. He is very hit and miss. |

I, too, used to have "Faith" and feel all bad when it was "betrayed".
So now I take it as it comes. I don't set my heart and I don't get mad. I find out what's good and I enjoy it. Which is not to say I don't have some expectations or that I never anticipate anything... but it's let me down too often, I try to avoid prejudice. |

I have faith in George Clinton. Of course, nothing new has been put out in a few years, but I still keep my faith.
"Put a hump in your back...shake your sacroiliac, and ride on...let's take a ride on"
Also, I have faith in Sade and Mary J. Blige. I think Mary's newer stuff is much better than her older stuff, but I still like the old joints too. Sade...well...she's just a goddess.
Also, I have faith in:
D'Angelo
Jill Scott
Fiona Apple
Brak, Space Ghost and Zorak (all three albums so far are BANGIN'!)
NIkka Costa (just one album as of yet, but still worthy of my faith)
And will the Rolling Stones ever fall off? Naaahh... |

The first Art Official Intelligence album is so underrated, everybody dismissed it right away but I was feelin it even more than Stakes Is High. It's obviously not the same as they're older albums but it's still a tight lp. |

well than, i guess i don't have faith in any artist. i can have faith that certain artist will create some songs I like but to say I beleive in the artist for me is too much. I don't necessarily agree with everything or most of what someone puts out or says in a song. I can't get disapointed when they produce something I don't feel. It keeps things simpler and my musical taste broader that way. I don't expect any artist to save the world. That said some artist I feel at this moment in time and space.
sage-of course
stiff little fingers-highly underated
rjd2-if an intrumental can get me thinking that says alot
the pouges-just because
murs-he just killed it |

I tried to like it man it reaked of commercialism and compromise by dela to me..no innovative production no switches in flows etc...
I thought Stakes was underrated but anyway to each their own |
