I think it's something that they have to change in their profile settings.
Click edit profile, click on the email thing under the photo, then you can set it to who is allowed to send you messages (aka emails). |

Google Plus's name policy has been a bit of a downer. And has definitely made me question my usage of the service. I don't have a problem with throwing my name around the internet personally. A lot because it's way way way late in the game for me to worry about it anymore. BUT for some people the name policy for Google Plus can be a complete non-starter, and can be extremely dangerous.
Plus the only reason Google Plus WANTS you to use your legal name is so they can data farm you and make money off you. It's not about enriching your experience on the service at all. It's so transparently about the money, and so completely stupid and insensitive--that it's actually kind of scary, if you consider this kind of thing a precursor of things to come on the internet.
At any rate, rarely does anything useful to me ever happen on facebook or google plus. Everything I deal with happens on tumblr, twitter, and google reader. |

I still think it sucks and I have a tough time seeing it overtake Facebook. In fact, Myspace has a better chance of making a comeback if they play their cards right. |

It's just tough because people don't really need two social network sites, and everyone's friends are already on FB. I have Google+, but just don't use it much as all the activity happens on FB. Google+ has done some things i like, and has made FB react to that with their own modifications, which is good. |

Google plus is the Google thing I use the least. So far haven't seen much reason to incorporate it into what I do. I have it, just don't use it. Facebook I use sometimes. |

You guys do you know that Google+ hasn't been released into public beta, right?
I am pretty excited for Google+ for enterprise use, honestly. Its what my company's intranet needs. |

I think we're all aware of that. I still think that they're veering more into fail territory than win territory. |

If anything, G+ has forced FB into adding new *useful* features (see: not redesigning the UI every other day) like the ability to categorize friends and different levels of status updates per friend. That's a net win. |
