I just posted a status update to "public" and got responses from Redball and B. Dolan. Not only that but I received emails telling me so.
So far.........not impressed? |

I fully admit that I am at your mercy right now. If you see that I am utilizing this service improperly please let me know. I've poked around and I feel like I immediately hit a dead end. I can't see how it's possible to reach out to the masses the way I was able to do with Friendster, Myspace, Facebook or Twitter. What am I supposed to do? How can an artist with a considerably large following optimize their time and energy by using this service? I don't want to dismiss Google+ right off the bat as I clearly fucked up by not joining Facebook during its developmental stages, but I can't dedicate time and energy to a social network that results in two responses from a status update. |

the bulk of people on Google+ right now work within the tech industry.
similar to the way twitter works - if you don't have many people in your circles, you won't get much out of it.
i am getting a lot out of it, but as i said, it's full of peeps within my industry so the interactions are great for me. Google said they are controlling the invites very strictly so they can keep updating and adapting the product ready for a public launch.
and if you don't know, now you know. |

All I know is that, as a musician, it seems like it's a greater deviance from what I require from a social network than what I get from Facebook. And Facebook was a big step away from Myspace. Speaking strictly as an artist, businessman and musician. |

Justin Timberlake is going to save MySpace by turning it into a talent contest or something.

its just that there's no one on there at the moment, maybe put out a facebook status / tweet to let people know that you're actually on there. When it goes public it could blow up, well a better chance than wave or buzz did anyway.
How do I invite people? |

Sage, this is just what a social network is like in its infancy. There's not all that many people on it.
With that said, I'm really not sure why your post didn't show up in my feed. Other people who post public crap go in my feed just fine. I don't know what the difference is and since I can't look over your shoulder I don't know if there's anything you can do differently. I can tell you that public posting on this is every bit as effective as facebook when it does work. In fact, I would say it's more so because the conversation mechanism has a better implementation in my opinion.
Anyway, I don't think anyone will blame you for neglecting this, but if it really does start popping off then you are at least in a better position if you figure this out now than to wait. |

codyclick2 at yahoo dot com if anyone is feeling generous. I'm techy and make maps; there's gotta be a group out there for that. Google ignored my request |
