Toshiba and Vizio seem to lead the way in terms of absolute value. They're known brands with reasonable quality in terms of picture, sound, and durability. Yet, unlike Sony, Samsung, and Sharp you won't pay a small fortune for the results. Be careful with off brands, at the very least thoroughly research the set (preferably the exact model but at least the manufacturer) before you buy.
If you're looking for a bargain, I don't know how good this set really is but for the size it's dirt cheap:

I don't know too much about app TVs. I think I'd prefer to buy a cheap set and buy a secondary streaming device like a Roku or Apple TV. |

House is a show that I love and hate. It's been going downhill for a while now. Started when they killed off Kutner (at this request tho), poorly executed, came out of nowhere. With Masters gone and Thirteen back I doubt I'll watch the next season |

Latest Adam Curtis documentary is running on BBC at the minute.
"All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace"
It's typical Adam Curtis: someone turns up in America with a fucking stupid idea, everyone buys into it, and that is why the world is in the mess it is.
Overly simplistic. Nice overview of some of the trends over the past few decades though.
Supposedly the theme this time is "how computers have not liberated us but distorted and simplified our view of the world around us."
The first one seemed to be more about objectivism, the distorted world view of the over-privileged, and the IMF are a bunch of shits.
Second episode should be on youtube in the next couple of days.

Modern Family gets the gasface from me. I don't get why people find it so funny. Liekwise Big Bang Theory. Ugh. |

Still cruising through the first season of Jericho. Very saddened that it was taken off the air, as it's a terrific program. I suppose you can only take the post-apocalyptic travails of a small town so far. But there is a lot of intrigue, and very manageable sub-plots. Apparently there is also another show, Jeremiah, of a similar vein. Malcolm Jamal-Warner is in it, so it can't be all bad. It's next in line in my Netflix queue. If it bombs I'm moving on to Sons of Anarchy. |

The Big Bang Theory is like if Frasier and Two and a Half Men had a baby, and then repeatedly dropped it on it's fucking head. |
