every act was awesome.
atmosphere killed it as usual, angelface is such a jam. its awesome how the songs all get seguayed together.
aesop rock has an awesome stage presence.
dj abilities is a monster, it was like having a performer in between each act, as opposed to just a dj playing songs.
Fuck, why couldn't Aesop be at the San Diego show too. Oh well, still a great show, but man did it make me feel old with all those youngn's. I guess I should have been in the bar rather than the front row. |

that studio performance was raw as hell. really wish i could sit-in (quietly) on something like that.
it'd be like when homer and bart won the lottery in the simpsons. they get coldplay to play for them in a giant stadium all by themselves. except it wouldn't be coldplay, and it'd be fuckin awesome. |

That article is really good. It's a change to hear a feel good story's in the news these days.
I know you just got done touring around the country, but are you going to hit up some of the state's (MI) that you didn't make it to on this most recent tour? All of the pictures and post from the tour looked great. Atmosphere is not a hometown (MN) secret anymore. :)
Keep on killing it |

When this record first came out I thought, meh, it's okay. It was certainly a departure from the form I was used to, partially because of the live instrumentation and partially because I thought the music was less hip hop than I wanted. So this record has been sitting on the shelf for some time, particularly in comparison to other Atmosphere material. But I was strolling through town today with it on my iPod, just to give it another go, and it blew my mind. Everything clicked. The music, the lyrics, the entire half confessional, half dystopian vision feel of the record, it was all amazing. From beginning to end, this is a masterpiece, and I think a contender for best Atmosphere record ever. It's also a premier example of the lyricist as raconteur, which is something I think Slug excels at. Brilliant!
In my mind, this is what separates the few really great albums out there from the good and below. While it didn't strike me as compelling or even that good initially, I knew there was something there waiting to be discovered. Sure enough, over time and repeated listens I have discovered the gold, as it were, in the lemons. The longevity and staying power of any album is the truest measure of its quality. By that account, I think we have a winner. |
