Yes! Its called becoming unsane, a state where you have passed through insanity and now are able to see fundamental truth. |

I'd love to know if he used things like LOL and LMAO.
"...then you drop the child off in at the mall and start the timer. In 2 minutes - BOOM, Sucka! LOL It's just another Martyr for the cause IMO!"
or maybe he was all douchy-like with all capitols like Vast Aire or Necro. |

John McCain was never crazy. For a Republican he's a pretty decent guy. That twinge of craziness you saw was two things:
1) Politics. McCain had to out-maneuver the crazies on one hand and placate them on the other. When he was making his Presidential bid he had to differentiate himself from the opponents and reassure parts of his voter base that were weary of his moderate views. In the aftermath, John couldn't simply go back to being John. He had to first take some time in which his politics matched those stated during the campaign, and later he had to make sure that the new radical movement in his party didn't oust him from the Senate for being a moderate.
2) Grappling with honesty. John McCain is a social moderate and fiscal conservative. He's not like people like Ron Paul who would completely gut every social service possible, given the chance. So when he had to pretend to be a radical social conservative for various reasons stated above it killed him. He's not a great liar and has a lot of tells. If you believe he's being true to himself when he says some of the more radical things you're likely to mistake bad lying and tells for twinges of lunacy. If he came unraveled at all its because he doesn't like to lie and that caused a disconnect between man and political machine.
None of this is saying that I particularly enjoy his body of work as a politician. However, he's mostly been consistent on matters like torture. I've agreed with him before on this issue and I wouldn't be surprised if I agree with him again. |

exactly. for all of his flip flopping, he's been consistent on torture. minus the obligatory american exceptionalism, that was a great speech. |

Calling him a "flip-flopper" was by far my guiltiest pleasure during the '08 campaign season.. my repub friends would get soooo mad when I'd use their amazing buzzwords against them. |
