Apple will likely never allow this app or a native app for Amazon's Cloud Player. Because Apple is believed to be launching a competing service and the iPhone is the most anticompetitive computing platform available. |

Quote: Amazon Cloud Player -- Digital Music Format
Amazon Cloud Player supports only non-DRM files in the .mp3 and .m4a formats. Files uploaded from your computer or saved directly from the Amazon MP3 Store are stored in their original codec and bit rate. Files download using Cloud Player are downloaded in the bite rate and codec where they were originally stored.
Note: Amazon Cloud Player does not currently support Lossless AAC files.
There is a difference in "downloaded" and streaming. You have two options, you can store your mp3 in the cloud and download it whenever you want to your device or you can stream off of the cloud. What you highlighted, confirms that if you upload a certain quality into the cloud you will be able to download it to your personal device at the same quality. Streaming off of the cloud player was my question.
I just read that the Amazon Cloud Player is now available to ios users (I-Phone, I-Pad, etc). |

There isn't much of a difference here. The cloud player streams the original audio file. It does not re-encode. It does not transport it any differently than a simple download. The only difference is that it can play the file while downloading it and that it removes the file from cache to make room for more.
Also, the Cloud Player is different than the Downloader. So when they say "Download" in the help for the Cloud Player they're talking about how it streams music. The files sound the exact same whether I play them from iTunes or the Cloud Player. On my phone they sound the same whether I use Android's player, the Cloud Player to play them locally, or stream them. They are the same bitrate.

Quote: Sound quality is excellent (the streaming is the full 256 kilobits a second of the original files, if you’re into that sort of statistic).
And yes, you can get the Cloud Player on iOS devices... via the web interface, and it barely works. Not the same as a native app.

What kind of crap "smart" phone do you have. Please don't mention iphone because they don't count as being smart. |

HTC Droid Incredible.
It may be able to output music to bluetooth but I haven't been able to get it to work and I don't have the patience. Another quick search online and I see that people have paired it with stereo bluetooth headphones. For whatever reason it wouldn't output media sound over bluetooth to the stereo. Could be the phone. Could be the car. Not worth the effort to figure it out. |

No. There's no sharing capabilities in it yet.
You might be able to do that with Dropbox if you paid to get more space. |

today my internet was out of service for a few hours just out of randomness and it led me to think about this cloud stuff and how terrible it would be to depend on it |

When the power goes out do you think about switching over to oil lamps? When your car breaks down do you regret not getting a horse? |

I actually think both of these things. Whenever gas goes up, I'm like "I wish I had a horse"--though it might be more expensive to maintain a horse. I dunno. |
