I read the first book last month. Almost finished with this one. Going to start the third right afterward. I've read all seven already, so this is merely another read-through. Great story though, no matter how many times you read it. |

My new favorite book is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
It is in my top 10 of favorite books of all time, and that is a hard list to squeeze into. |

I just finished William Gibson's Mona Lisa Overdrive, which I picked up for 99c at Goodwill simply because somebody here mentioned it. I'm not normally into the sci-fi genre but this book is really great. The more I read the more I was convinced that The Matrix was based off it. Sho nuff, I did a little research and some of the primary concepts are taken directly out of the book. At any rate, I had no idea how influential and prescient Gibson was/is. His ideas of cyberspace essentially predated the internet, which is crazy. I'm really glad I got into this one, because now I'm going to check out his other works. |

Haruki Murakami's Wind-Up Bird Chronicle was a big disappointment for me. There were times where I really enjoyed the book and wanted to get reading, but after about 300 pages I realized I just wanted to be done with it. There was no need for the book to be that long, first off. Second, there seemed to be no real rhyme or reason to anything. I didn't feel any particular emotional connection to the characters. The ending was severely anti-climactic as well. The best parts of this book were the stories coming from Lieutenant Mamiya about the Mamonhan incident. After really enjoying Kafka on the Shore this mug does not compare. Ah well. |
