I've been on a real documentary kick lately. Grizzly Man really put my teeth on edge so I have been on a mission to find the best and weirdest out there.
I need good recommendations.
Here is one I found about a 14 year old girl from the Isle of Mann (pop. <80,000) becoming a multimillion dollar pop idol in Japan due to 1 youtube video. The effect it has on her father is almost sickening.

Can always rely on Raoul for the goodness. This looks awesome!
Edit: downloading now. I'd buy stuff like this if I could... But paying 40$ for shipping on a couple DVD's is not within my budget. |

the NFB is rife with canadian documentaries(and other publicly funded films), all on the net for free. i'd recommend to anyone to check out this site. a lot of good canadian stuff on there.
this could have been posted before, but is awesome nonetheless

Check out this great documentary about how the red Punks and the first Hip Hop heads came together in Paris to deal with the Neonazi Skins that had increased their brutal attacks in the early 80's. Inspiring documentary with some great narration...

A doc called "Second Skin" was pretty interesting. It's about gamers fascinations with MMO RPGs and the impact on their lives. I watched it on Netflix at one time, but it's also on youtube in its entirety.
"Restrepo" was an interesting look at a platoon of U.S. soldiers defending an outpost in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. |
