Also: Hindsight bias.

Also, from Wikipedia:

Quote:

Argument from incredulity / Lack of imagination

Arguments from incredulity take the form:

1. P is too incredible (or I cannot imagine how P could possibly be true); therefore P must be false.
2. It is obvious that P (or I cannot imagine how P could possibly be false) therefore P must be true.

These arguments are similar to arguments from ignorance in that they too ignore and do not properly eliminate the possibility that something can be both incredible and still be true, or appear to be obvious and yet still be false.

In sense 1, P is the proposition that human life and conditions hospitable for human life could have arisen without willful and benevolent intent to guide the outcome.

Bill makes an argument from incredulity to falsify P, and then uses that conclusion to declare P off-limits as an argument for atheists or agnostics to use to falsify his belief that God exists.

It's terrible argument on two fronts: First because it's a straw man that he thinks he knows how to beat, second because he isn't actually beating it.

The particular language he chose to defend this fallacy is particularly bad because it's simultaneously glib and chiding. Being wrong in that tone is an active invitation to ridicule.

I just like how his closing statement is admitting that being religious is the easy way.

YOUR MOVE, HAWKING.

What does he mean with the whole 'never a miscommunication' thing?

"Okay Tide i'm going down so you come up now"

"Okay Sun i'm going down"

"No wait! God damn it Tide, i'm going down, you come up"

"Ok i'm ready to come up with you big guy, just say the word."

"I hate you, Tide."
