WikiLeaks: Fatah Asked Israel to Attack Hamas
WikiLeaks has released a number of new U.S. diplomatic cables pertaining to the Middle East. One memo from 2007 indicates that members of Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party asked Israel to attack members of the rival Palestinian movement Hamas. The memo also quotes the head of Israel’s security agency Shin Bet praising the organization’s working relationship with Abbas. Fatah is said to share with Shin Bet "almost all the intelligence that it collects." Meanwhile, another leaked cable mentions a possible "secret accord" between Israel and the United States to continue the "natural growth" of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

WikiLeaks: Israel Suspected of Assassinating Syrian Official in 2008
A third leaked cable reveals that the U.S. embassy in Damascus suspected that Israel was behind the 2008 assassination of a top security aide to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. General Muhammad Suleiman was shot dead by a sniper in the Syrian city of Tartous on August 1, 2008. At the time, Suleiman was special presidential adviser for arms procurement and strategic weapons.

WikiLeaks: U.S. Sought to Retaliate against France over GM Crops
In other WikiLeaks news, another leaked cable reveals that the Bush administration drew up ways to retaliate against Europe for refusing to use genetically modified seeds. In 2007, the U.S. ambassador to France said retaliation was needed because France and other European nations continued to ban biotech seeds produced by Monsanto and Pioneer Hi-Bred. In the leaked cable, Ambassador Craig Roberts said, "Europe is moving backwards not forwards on this issue with France playing a leading role, along with Austria, Italy and even the Commission.”

In the cable sent to Washington, Jones said that Yadlin [Israel's then-Military Intelligence chief] had been quite satisfied with Hamas' seizure of the Gaza Strip.

If Hamas managed to take complete control then the Israel Defense Forces would be able to relate to Gaza as a hostile territory and stop looking at the militant group as an undiplomatic player, Yadlin apparently told Jones.

How is it that the runt of the MSNBC litter is the one who scores an interview with Julian Assange after his release from prison? This is a blah interview with some gems here and there, but what do you expect when the interview is conducted by a guy who is currently one step beyond his public access-ish internet "news" show.

If this video doesn't embed then I apologize. Huffington Post has made it difficult to share this info. Here's the link to the page I watched this on http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/22/julian-assange-msnbc-fox_n_800471.html

WikiLeaks Set To Reveal US-UFO War In Southern Ocean
http://www.eutimes.net/2010/12/wikileaks-set-to-reveal-us-ufo-war-in-southern-ocean/

Quote:

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared for President Medvedev by Russian Space Forces (VKS) 45th Division of Space Control says that an upcoming WikiLeaks release of secret US cables details that the Americans have been “engaged” since 2004 in a “war” against UFO’s based on or near the Continent of Antarctica, particularly the Southern Ocean.
According to this report, the United States went to its highest alert level on June 10, 2004 after a massive fleet of UFO’s “suddenly emerged” from the Southern Ocean and approached Guadalajara, Mexico barely 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) from the American border. Prior to reaching the US border, however, this massive UFO fleet is said in this report to have “dimensionally returned” to their Southern Ocean “home base”.
The fears of the Americans regarding these Southern Ocean UFO’s began, this report says, during the unprecedented events of July 11, 1991 (referred to as 7/11) when during the Solar Eclipse these mysterious aircraft appeared by the hundreds over nearly all of Mexico, even their Capital city. Most notable about the events of 7/11 were that as millions of Mexicans were watching on their televisions the National broadcasts of these UFO’s over Mexico City, the American media refused to allow their people to view it.

Since 2004, this report continues, fleets of Southern Ocean UFO’s have continued to emerge from their bases, with the latest such event being this Friday past when another of their massive fleets was sighted over the South American Nation of Chile.
The “immediate danger” to our World when these massive UFO fleets emerge from the Southern Ocean, this report warns, are the massive waves caused by their sudden eruption from what are believed to be their underwater base, or bases. In the past week alone, the Clelia II, an Antarctic cruise ship with 160 people onboard, was nearly capsized when hit by waves generated by these UFO’s emerging from the Southern Ocean, and just today the Number One Insung has been reported sunk with only 20 of its 42 member crew said saved due to the same cause.
Interesting to note in this report is its confirming our October 14th report US Shuts Down New York City Airspace Over UFO ‘Threat’ that these same Southern Ocean UFO’s were responsible for the closing of the airspace over New York City this past fall (October 13th) when they “appeared” openly and were witnessed by tens of thousands of people, and which, coincidentally, occurred during the same time frame as the mysterious Crystal Skulls of the ancient South American peoples were being exhibited there too.
Even more interesting to note is that the mysterious earthquakes being reported in the Gulf of Aden (where another “extraterrestrial” event is currently ongoing and we had reported on in our December 1st report Mysterious ‘Vortex’ Warned Is Creating Global Weather Catastrophe) are now being reported occurring in the Southern Ocean too.
This report goes on to state that after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange warned last week that he would begin releasing secret US cables relating to these Southern Ocean UFO’s, and the Americans “war” against them, he was immediately arrested by British Police on trumped up charges issued by the Swedish government which in our December 8th report, Global Rebellion Erupts After “Unprotected Sex Meets Disrobed Governments”, we noted were engineered against him as a “classic” CIA “Honey Trap”.
Note: Since our last report on the EU-US frame-up of Assange it is now being reported that one of his two accusers, Anna Ardin, has fled Sweden and is now in hiding in the Palestinian territories.
To if Assange, or his WikiLeaks website, will survive to see the whole release of these Southern Ocean UFO files it is not to our knowing, nor does this report say.
What is in our knowing, however, and when coupled with the information we reported on in our December 10th report Massive Earthquake Fears Rise After Mysterious Object Moves Nearer To Earth, suggests that the timing of these events, as we near the December 20/21 Total Lunar Eclipse, and as Mercury turns retrograde and joins Mars as it forms a conjunction with Pluto, that the ending of this year, 2010, truly marks the ending of this age as prophesied by the ancients.
In the Sorcha Faal’s seminal work published in 2007, Battle Begins For Throne of This World: The Return of the Einherjar Warriors, she notes that in these “last days” the “guideposts” to what the future will hold for humanity does, indeed, rest hidden to the discerning reader in the words handed down to us by the ancients, none being more important in this case than those of Nostradamus, who in writing of this coming Lunar Eclipse and feared conjunctions warned:
“The arms to fight in the sky a long time,
The tree in the middle of the city fallen:
Sacred bough clipped, steel, in the face of the firebrand,
Then the Monarch of Adria fallen.” Quatrain 3:11
Most ominously for our World today, “the tree in the middle of the city” has, indeed, “fallen” with news from Glastonbury that the 2,000-year-old Holy Thorn Tree, one of Christianities oldest and most revered symbols, has been cut down by vandals. With the great tree now “fallen”, the battle for this Earth now moves to the “sky” until the “Monarch of Adria” (Pope Benedict XVI) has “fallen” too.

really? Wikileaks workers celebrate christmas?

I thought they threatened the entire western way of life?

My concern isnt for wikileaks themselves, it is for the un-updated wikileaks sections of the major papers. NYTimes stopped having front page stories ages ago

could be a "let it slide over christmas and they will all forget about it" style o thang. Interested to see which papers return to give it prominence after the break

collateral damage....

How WikiLeaks Just Set Back Democracy in Zimbabwe

Last year, early on Christmas Eve morning, representatives from the U.S., United Kingdom, Netherlands, and the European Union arrived for a meeting with Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai. Appointed prime minister earlier that year as part of a power-sharing agreement after the fraud- and violence-ridden 2008 presidential election, Tsvangirai and his political party, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), are considered Zimbabwe's greatest hopes for unseating the country's long-time de facto dictator Robert Mugabe and bringing democratic reforms to the country.

The topic of the meeting was the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by a collection of western countries, including the U.S. and E.U. Tsvangirai told the western officials that, while there had been some progress in the last year, Mugabe and his supporters were dragging their feet on delivering political reforms. To overcome this, he said that the sanctions on Zimbabwe "must be kept in place" to induce Mugabe into giving up some political power. The prime minister openly admitted the incongruity between his private support for the sanctions and his public statements in opposition. If his political adversaries knew Tsvangirai secretly supported the sanctions, deeply unpopular with Zimbabweans, they would have a powerful weapon to attack and discredit the democratic reformer.

Later that day, the U.S. embassy in Zimbabwe dutifully reported the details of the meeting to Washington in a confidential U.S. State Department diplomatic cable. And slightly less than one year later, WikiLeaks released it to the world.

The reaction in Zimbabwe was swift. Zimbabwe's Mugabe-appointed attorney general announced he was investigating the Prime Minister on treason charges based exclusively on the contents of the leaked cable. While it's unlikely Tsvangirai could be convicted on the contents of the cable alone, the political damage has already been done. The cable provides Mugabe the opportunity to portray Tsvangirai as an agent of foreign governments working against the people of Zimbabwe. Furthermore, it could provide Mugabe with the pretense to abandon the coalition government that allowed Tsvangirai to become prime minister in 2009.

It's difficult to see this as anything but a major setback for democracy in Zimbabwe. Even if Tsvangirai is not charged with treason, the opponents to democratic reforms have won a significant victory. First, popular support for Tsvangirai and the MDC will suffer due to Mugabe's inevitable smear campaign, including the attorney general's "investigation." Second, the Prime Minister might be forced to take positions in opposition to the international community to avoid accusation of being a foreign collaborator. Third, Zimbabwe's fragile coalition government could collapse completely. Whatever happens, democratic reforms in Zimbabwe are far less likely now than before the leak.

To their supporters, WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange are heroes of the democratic cause. Assange himself has claimed that his organization promotes democracy by strengthening the media. But in Zimbabwe, Assange's pursuit of this noble goal has provided a tyrant with the ammunition to wound, and perhaps kill, any chance for multiparty democracy. Earlier this month, Assange claimed that "not a single person, as far as anyone is aware, has been harmed" by Wikileaks' practices. This is no longer true, if it ever was.

Any damage to democratic reforms from WikiLeaks likely comes not from malice but naivety. Assange is probably not best described, as Vice President Joe Biden recently put it, a "high-tech terrorist." Rather, he, his organization, and their activist supporters believe that they can promote democracy by making an enemy of secrecy itself. What we're seeing in Zimbabwe, however, is that those methods won't necessarily be without significant collateral damage.

wow ... I didnt know the full story of that

it actually is far better for Wikileaks than I thought ... I thought they had just outed him talking to the US, but instead they outed him lying to his constituency

so the 'setback to democracy' in Zimbabwe was due to the people finding out their Prime Minister was barefaced lying to them? nice foundation of quicksand you got right there

The NYT was cut off from Wikileaks after Assange became upset over their profile of him. The last round of leaks were given to them by the Guardian.

It's a bit absurd that Wikileaks is releasing leaks to only two papers, neither of which are in the US. Promoting democracy by strengthening the media?

Mugabe will never really share power. With or without this leak. Sanctions kill kids and hurt the people at the bottom.

Leak leak leak..

First national television interview of Assange:

Part 1:

Part 2 (apparently CBS disabled embedding on this part):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gKmBgc_4ko&feature=related

I don't have much to add, except that I thought Assange was able to redefine the perspective of Wikileaks' mission as broader and in more international terms. This is important because as his interviewer said, many Americans have a negative and inward view towards Assange (i.e. he's trying to destroy the United States).

It is bullshit when Assange said their focus wasn't just on the United States. They may have focused on other international issues in the past, but Assange has his sites clearly aimed towards the United States. The focus of the website is the United States. There is very little Assange can do to fight that public perception and, personally, I don't think he minds it.

He seems like a smart guy. Definitely eccentric, neurotic and mysterious. I could see him having groupies (even before I was aware of his charges in Sweden). He does have that cult-like personality.
