Why do these threads always devolve into someone insinuating that I'm either 1) a cultural imperialist or 2) motivated solely in my scientific endeavors and passion by a fear of death?

I mean, are you so simplistic? Why are you such lazy thinkers?

CRAZY, you made noise earlier about enjoying science for the sake of discovery, knowledge, and wonder. If that's actually the case, we're more or less on the same page.

The main difference is that while you pay some lip service to that idea of discovery and knowledge, you then fail utterly to reconcile it with your phobia of the Western phallus which you seem to feel is inseparably linked to the actual execution or methods of science. The end result is a strong impression that you want to like science but ultimately don't care enough to learn anything about it--but you sure as fuck don't let that stop you from being outspoken on scientific issues.

As for your implied thesis, remind, there are other motivating factors in the world apart from fear or dislike of death. For example, disgust for the conservative mindset of intellectual laziness. For example, "Hey people die man, it's like, a powerful truth of life." I've tried discussing on this forum before why I think you're an idiot if you think like that, but the gist is summed up in the first half of this sentence.

I'm going home now. I'm very hungry. But I dunno, we all die anyway. Maybe I should just give up now and stop metabolizing. Like, what's the point of doing things? That's, like, manifest destiny and stuff.

breakreep dropping science!
Thank you.

I can't understand how anyone can argue against us working for the survival of the species.
I think it comes from a limited sense of what's 'natural'. I think there's a major problem with thinking that anything 'man-made' isn't natural...

Uh I was simply alluding to the back and forth we had where I started by saying "Death is a part of life. And it's ok." I guess you didn't remember that it was me. I have no problems with what you say in this thread and, in fact, find it quite enlightening. But yeah, I'm glad you were able to insult me in the process when I thought I was just being funny. I guess I wasn't.

Might wanna check yourself before you start calling me a lazy thinker though, homie.

I didn't remember that was you but thought it might have been. The 'you' was a general you and, in context, seems unnecessarily mean. Sorry about that.

It's hard to keep a temper in check when you deal with scientifically illiterate people all day who, despite their nonsense and lack of willingness to put in intellectual work, demand an equal say in matters they are clueless in.

That frustration comes out here when posts like the one I made earlier in excitement somehow incite anti-imperialist rants. I mean, fuck. There's only so much a person can take! Then I get defensive. Sorry again for the insult. But my point still stands, if not directly aimed at you.

So would you go?

If a Glieseian 581g-er knocked on your door & gave you the chance to go what would you do?

You can never come back.

You have to go alone.

You can take nothing.

They will give you the 'Gliese Suit' to wear before you board. It must be warn at all times whilst on the planet. The vest will let you breath & the pants will help you move properly around your new home.

It looks like this.

They intercepted a tv transmission from 1990 & based the suit off what they thought was our king. Don’t be fucking rude. Put on the suit!

You will be comfortable & safe on your new home.

Inter species reproduction is still at least 20 years away. But the mechanics of “doin’ it” are almost the same with a sexy alien lady. Or man.

You will be shown technology you wouldnt see here in fifty life times.

There is no war.

There is no ice cream.

Glieseian music is a mix between middle eastern pop & reggae. They don’t care for your rap music.

They will never return to Errff in our life time.

You have to leave right now.

They're waiting for your answer…

What happens when I get caught with ice cream? I think it'd be worth the risk.

They are a peaceful race but they don't tolerate dairy.

At all.

The risk is exile from society. You will be forced to live on a desert plain. In a hut made from old Gliese suits.

There, without help, you will most probably starve to death.

Alone.

And the Glieseians will never trust humans again.

All for some damn ice cream.

Do you really want that on your conscience Remind?

Nah, listen. All you do is get the one who looks like the leader to try some ice cream. Could blow their fucking wigs back, man. It could be what we offer to society. And you would be the god of ice cream.
