Didn't Sage get number one best MC alive on that site two years running over Eminem and Jay Z...I was a total Sage fanboy at the time so it seemed to make perfect sense to me |

I have a lot to say about things that are being discussed in this thread and I hopefully have time to compose that book soon.
*Blogs are the new books, right?*

I'm actually really glad to see the majority of people in this thread and the sole thread who seem to have more positive recollections of the site than I would've thought. I just remember a great deal of unnecessary and over-the-top behavior from a lot of people.
Frankly, up until until the accident, I thought he handled his business as well anybody I came across in this business. His money situation happened to go south at really vital point in the company's evolution and if that hadn't happened, i have no doubt that he would've eventually turned the site into something just as relevant and even more profitable than before. He really had that kind of vision as an entrepreneur. A lot of people didn't realize it at the time, but I had a close-up view of where he wanted to take things and I truly believe he would've succeeded. |

HHI was crucial. No doubt about it. But because of its quick demise, after becoming the "town center" for the indie-rap fans and artists, a lot of stupid shit happened. |

This is all taking me back to the days of the Rhymesayers, Anticon and Non Prophets message boards... Wild days. |

HHI was great... I've been hoping for something to fill the void since it's demise, but haven't seen anything close yet... |

My branching off into independent hiphop began with Blackalicious somehow, exploded with Kazaa, and was streamlined by HHI. Like many of you my first experience with Sage and Personal Journals was courtesy of Seagraves. The reviews were probably the best part, and I had no complaints about the service I received. Even my pre-order of Aesop Rock's Bazooka Tooth was mailed out ahead of schedule just as HHI was imploding. That site will undoubtedly go down as a crucial nexus for hiphop and its popular dispersal. |

Now that I think about it, that site was the thing that really made me take an interest in Sage. |

man, seriously, between HHI and Sandbox, they kept me on point as who was the new and up and coming artists to watch out for. sandbox lacked with shipping so i stopped using them, but HHI never let me down. I have no problems with him. |

While we're shouting out old online hip hop retailers, I want to give it up for hiphopsite.com I loved that place and frequented its boards until they just finally gave up on maintaining the message board. |
