The Mormon Cartoon - not exactly accurate. Thoughts?  Reply with quote

This cartoon that was taken off of youtube is not exactly accurate. It has some truthful base but jumps way out there speculating on things that are not part of the official doctrine. I'm happy to answer any questions on here about the LDS church. I was born into it and have lived in heavily mormon areas my entire life and know an extensive amount about it. Although I am a considered very liberal and open-minded for a mormon, I still believe that there is some good in the religion, just as in most all religions.

That's the same question I asked on Facebook.

Beyond this particular cartoon, many people (mormons and ex-mormons) on FB are saying that the Southpark cartoon about Mormons is spot on. That's funny in itself. But I'm curious about this "banned" Mormon cartoon from youtube. If there's something that isn't based on fact or Mormon doctrine I want to know.

Is mormonism the white christian version of the Nation of Islam? I dont know too much about either but there seems to be alot of parallels between the two and they both echo older esoteric doctrines

I guess its just the way they both treat the origin of modern man and the idea of God being some sort of extra terrestrial being

Mormons believe that native americans are the real israelites and nation of islam believes africans to be the real israelites

Ive become real interested in the parallels of all these different religions and its all kind of a big abstract jumble of information going on in my head right now. I was hoping someone with more knowledge might be able to expound on that thought

A lot of people are doing that, that aren't mormons.
Especially if you sub out "canned goods" with "guns and ammo".

i was wondering more about specific mormon attitudes and teachings, cos it doesn't seem to be their bag.

It means 'no vuvuzelas'. Apparently they've been a problem for longer than we thought...

The mainstreaming of Mormons is really kinda an incredible story. We now have had a Mormon major Republican presidential candidate and, especially, the figurehead/leader of the largest right-wing populist, Christianist movement in thirty years is a Mormon. I think part of this is pure race. Whiteness apparently trumps kooky religious beliefs that are as extreme about Jesus as that of Islam. Still, I wonder how many of the folks at Glenn Beck's religious rally last weekend really understand how different his idea of Christianity is from theirs. Mormons don't even believe in the Virgin Birth! (Islam does, though, oddly enough)
