Yeah who knows. I've been listening to the new Kanye song over and over for weeks, and I'm sure there is someone who can tell me why that is mediocre as well.
People were saying the same shit about 3 Freaks back when that came out. I still bump that song regularly.
When you decide that a song like this sucks, do you just listen to it, one time, while sitting at your computer and think, "Fuck, that sucks," or do you think, "hmmm, I'm not sure about this one. Let me maybe try this in some headphones or in the car or something."
It probably doesn't matter. Maybe I'm just not geeked enough into the genre to know why it sucks so bad. I don't always understand why some of the wonky or dubstep dudes even get the love they do, either though.
Sometimes reading people's intense dislike for a song that they just heard for the first time 20 minutes before posting, makes me smh. I'm trying to think of a song that hit me that hard after one listen on a computer. |

Well I have pretty good computer speakers, tommi.
The song is unimaginative and it fer sure doesn't bump.
People are hating on it, yep, because DJ Shadow was supposed to have a clue about making good music.
If it wasn't DJ Shadow we just wouldn't be listening to it at all. It seriously sounds like something some kid made on his FruityLoops. |

I thought you were upgrading your monitors and didn't want to spend more than $200 on the pair? I kid.
Someone on here once tried to explain to me why Girl Talk sucks so much also. I think maybe my palate is just not very refined or something. |

Did this song make you wet your pants or something?
I can see how you could not hate it. But I can't imagine anyone being like "Oh my god a complete double length DJ Shadow song! It's so intense! What does it mean?"
And if it's not so intense then what good is it? What does it mean? |

Kind of lost me at 1:55.
It has a 8-bit quality to it that I appreciate, but it's not something that inspires me. |

I think I'm more of a Cut Chemist man these days myself (even back to what he did on the Litmus Test mix - that still kills me, it's smart as hell).
With this kind of sound I think there a lot of people making music now who do this stuff better. That sound in general is being looked into in more depth and in more interesting ways, and sure he's moved on, but so have a lot of his fans and so has the music. It goes without saying though that he's made some perfect sample based music in the past though, that's pretty much carved in stone now.
Personally, it's not for me and I don't really check for this kind of stuff now. I remember thinking that The Outsider might hit people years later but now it sounds really dated already, and I get that feeling here. |

The song isn't half as bad as this thread expected me to believe. It sounds to me like a bit of tribute to the Miami Bass stuff he has been into for years and years as well as a nod to more modern dance movements. Yeah, its not great but I would prefer to stab my ears than listen to another instrumental hip hop record stuffed full of obscure breaks and heavy drums because that type of sound has been done to death. |

Somewhere some AD is preparing to sell toothpaste with the aid of this track, thinking "its what the kids think is hip". He says something about dubstep at the end, please...listen to some Burial and then this again. Or on a second thought dont. Really awful..It is not about pushing boundaries, hes not venturing out to new pastures or something, which would be rewarding if he did, to not continue making these FL tutorials.
He is obviously bored and as a result, makes boring music nowadays.
And thats not a hating opinion, just a true statement. |
