ian, you seen me in real life? why didnt we make out? and is it pee or pea? or did i poop pea or piss pea? war and peas bro.

I just assumed anything coming out of your dick must be pea-sized. Your pirate earing has to be compensating for something.

And yeah I've seen your goonie-snatch shaped grill in person. You're joe-generic meathead whose glasses and earings make him look a little too soft to hang out with the other meatheads.

So long as you're taking your meds, you're public persona is about as threatening as a sack of kittens. So it's funny you come on here in this character and stir people up. You are the fakest person on these boards.

The only time I ever doubt taking a job that pays me 1/5 of what I could be making is when I realize how nice it would be to have a full time nurse if I need one when I am older and in bad health.

Saw the title of this thread and got really sad.
Opened the thread and saw Roger Ebert's face and felt sadder.
Saw a long article that I don't think I'm ready to read because I don't feel like being sad.
Sadness was sidetracked a bit by Trav and Futur's interaction.

Back to feeling sad again. I love Ebert.

It's a bit sad, but it was worth the read. It's a good sadness. It sounds like he's truly making the most out of his time here, and that's a rare and happy thing.

He sounds really serene, to be honest. I hope when it's my time to go I can be in that kind of state of mind.

Yeah, after reading that article I was sad but mostly inspired by the way his artistic output changed and in many ways got better and more sincere due to his health problems. Hopefully he gets his voice back with that computer deal... that's fucking cool technology.

I used to hate Ebert I think ostensibly because I liked Siskel so much, and sort of saw Ebert as a monolithic fat ball of mean. Needless to say over the years my opinion has changed. And his twitter is the most amazing thing ever. You really get to see a diffrent somewhat irreverent side of him, reading this it makes a lot more sense why he is on there doing that as much as he is. It will be sad when he finally goes. I remember Vincent Gallo talking about how beautiful Ebert and his wife are. He said they were an amazing couple. This article seems to bare that out. It sounds difficult, but it also sounds like they are still very much in love in some of the best ways.

i completely felt the same way. thanks for the heads up on the twitter. i'm gonna start following it immediately. great article btw.

Recent Tweet: "For Lent I am giving up eating and drinking."

Gotta love that...

That was pretty intensely depressing to read, but ultimately uplifting.

We won't lack for great film criticism after Ebert. J. Hoberman is still alive, you know. But he's one of the greats of the greats.

That's Ebert's follow up blog and response to the article, if anyone's interested.

First...thanks for posting this. Pretty cool how they used audio from his past recordings. Go Scots.

Also, the comments and pictures following were ridiculous. Look at this gem:
