I watched Ninotcha, the Greta Garbo comedy. It was pretty amusing. I wished that they had been able to cast Clark Gable instead of Melvin Douglas though.

I watched Thieves like Us. It's really good Robert Altman. Starring Shelly Duval and Keith Carradine. I love Robert Altman movies of that era. And I have a huge crush on Shelly Duval. The movie was full of win for me.

What festival are these from? Some of these movies are quite old. |

I collect via newsgroups and am, in many ways, the constant downloader. Some of these are pulled from festivals, some from IFC, some from consistent studios. I'm a sucker for a Focus feature.
I started Tristram Shandy in an act of defiance and had to stop it after 20 minutes. Talk about a film that really spun its wheels. My Winnipeg didn't do a lot for me, either, though. |

Ha. I had high expectations for Tristham Shandy. But like you say, it spun it's wheels in a very disappointing and obnoxious way.
I haven't seen My Winnipeg. I just knew it was a Guy Maddin film, and I like his films.
I watched Gigantic tonight on my instant netflix. It was a really nice little film. Kind of in that genre of Wes Anderson movies, and Noah Bambach type films. Zoey Deschanel is good in it. Zach Galafinikis is good in it. Just a really good cast.
It would make a good double feature with Winter's Passing I think. |

Great to hear! That's the next blind grab I have coming from Netflix. Looking forward to it now. Just revisited Winter Passing last month too and enjoyed it even more the second time. Great little film. "Well, I gotta go rock. And if you see Holdin, tell him his balls are clean"
Halloween 2 tonight and Orphange (revisiting for the first time since it came out) tomorrow night.... good movie week. |

Just finished Anatomy of a Murder. Definitely worth a watch. Great courtroom drama. James Stewart is awesome. |

I watched The Woods the other night. It's by the director who made May. I liked it a lot. Not a perfect movie at all. But it hit all the genre marks and Patricia Clarkson is in it.
Then last night I watched Adventureland, which was very very enjoyable. Kristen Stewart must have set a record for lip chewing though. But she was amazing in it. Almost want to see Twilight now.
Really wonderful cast. martin starr is reaallly good in it. |
