I sometimes lurk on the forums at officer.com just to see how police officers react to certain stories.

I've never made an account because I would simply get too angry to write anything worth posting. But suffice to say they have a 2 page thread at the moment and not a single poster has expressed anything close to sympathy for the deceased.

EDIT - Don't visit those forums unless you want all of your "fuck cops" instincts to be brought to a boil.

that forum made me feel all kinds of nauseous.

What is a transit cop and why do they need guns? Does that much shit go down on public transit in big cities?

sorry, your moniker is convenient. anyway, yes. there's lots of shit that goes down on public transit. robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, shootings, knifings. sexual assaults in particular are hugely common given the close proximity of fellow travellers. some kind of peacekeeping force does need to be present.

not to be overly dramatic about it, though. BUT i'm a white dude, so though i have felt relatively safe in 95% of all the public transit situations i've been in in a variety of cities, it may not mean much. it's not like, a bloodbath under the city streets or anything. it's just that shit happens, and certain shit happens more often than other shit.

Yeah, makes more sense now that I think about it. Like on a subway, if a crime happened it would take forever for a street cop to get to a platform or on a train.

We only have buses here, so the cops are able to get there quickly, no need for transit police.

Demand justice in the killing of Oscar Grant  Reply with quote

http://www.colorofchange.org/oscar/?id=1922-658321

"DEMAND JUSTICE IN THE KILLING OF OSCAR GRANT

On New Year's Eve, Oscar Grant was murdered by a transit police officer. Grant was subdued, posed no threat, and was shot execution style.

Johannes Mehserle, Grant's killer, has not been arrested, charged with a crime, or even questioned by the Alameda District Attorney. More than 10 days later Mehserle still walks free.

Join us in demanding that California Attorney General Jerry Brown take over the case from the District Attorney and arrest Mehserle immediately. At the same time your action will result in an appeal to the US Department of Justice to investigate the repeated failures of BART Police and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office's to hold officer's accountable in police-killings."

Just sent e-mails to both Brown and the Dept. of Justice.[/url]

Not to get offtrack or anything, but here's my favourite officer.com quote thus far:

Quote:

i think it was more like the indians greed of not sharing that caused blood shed.

The settlers were not hostile until approached. But this is not the point. The point is gay people should not marry.

I do support females though.... lol
