That's where I'm at. Fuck them if they needed a taser at that point -- what are we training these assholes on the public dime for if three of them can't control a guy already laying on the ground face-down? Fucking worthless.

He did not have a weapon -- that's the only possible justification for using a taser or gun at the point they did in the video. He was already subdued.

it seems like a perfect time to use a taser, if you're a cop. suspect is struggling so that you can't cuff him -- a quick taze, and he's all -- BANG. oops.

look at the cop to the right on the video -- he pauses for a second, like "oh no." i think they were both surprised.

So 3 trained individuals who are standing over someone in a compromised defensive position can't restrain him sufficiently? I'm sorry, if a police academy can't teach someone to handle that situation without a taser or gun, I don't think there's any hope for police justice.

1. there is no reason to use a taser or gun in this situation. The number of cops tending to the ONE individual (who was already face down on the floor) should have been able to handle him no problem.

2. there is no reason for a police officer to mistake a taser for a gun. it is their job and it is a huge fucking mistake. they are trained for a reason. that is absolutely no excuse. The "welp, easy mistake!" justification is bullshit.

I'll be the first guy to be careful about jumping to conclusions, but neither of those explanations make this any less unacceptable or any more justified.

i didn't watch the video because its already sickening enough just reading about it. I don't need the visuals to haunt me, too...

What a sad, fucked up, horrible situation. Its such a shame this happened regardless if it was an "Accident" and thought he was holding the taser.

Sounds like a power trip gone sour, big surprise there.

I sometimes lurk on the forums at officer.com just to see how police officers react to certain stories.

I've never made an account because I would simply get too angry to write anything worth posting. But suffice to say they have a 2 page thread at the moment and not a single poster has expressed anything close to sympathy for the deceased.

EDIT - Don't visit those forums unless you want all of your "fuck cops" instincts to be brought to a boil.

http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109336

"Any number of reasons that he may have shot.....you can see from the video that there is a struggle before the shot is fired (even before the officer pulls his weapon).....the suspect may have reached underneath him, leading the shooter to believe that he was attempting to retrieve a weapon.....

There isnt enough info to call it a bad shoot.......not by a long shot.....

btw....saying 'liberal media' is redundant.......esp. in SF area......."

What is this? Fucking Duck Hunt or something?
