"Hey Bobby"(full song) to be released as an MP3 on  Reply with quote

as I just announced on HHI, I believe it is senseless to wait around four months for "Hey Bobby" to be available to the public.

It will be a free MP3 on this site.

It is getting completely mixed down in the studio tomorrow and then I will go through the process of getting it uploaded somewhere and then hosted on this site.

To be quite honest, I am not sure how to do this shit. I am (as I have stated a billion times) computer illiterate.

If the webmaster of this site is not available to encode it and do whatever else it takes to get it up and going...I will need someone's help (Barlow?)

thank you

just a note...i can host mp3's on the forum pic site, as well. and I am nowhere near my content or bandwidth limits (only currently use 10-15%), so it wouldn't be a problem at all

I'll need to encode it from the cd I bring home from the studio.

would it be easier for me to do it from a wav file because I can get that from the studio too

Yes, but converting from CD audio (.aif) to mp3 results in a loss of sound quality, too. AIFs and WAVs are pretty much equal quality, and using mp3 compression results in a loss of quality no matter what.

My website can host MP3 files or other sound files in the following formats: WAV, MID, MIDI, AU, RA, and RM. Anybody have knowledge of what these different file types are for...and which ones are best? !

wavs are HUGE files that are basic maps of sound waves. you use them for editing in programs like sound forge, acid, etc.

midi is the format synths and many computer music production/editing programs use (such as protools). this would be good if you wanted to jack a song or put it on your shiny new cell phone as your ring tone.

real audio (ra) and real media (rm) are good for playing straight off the internet. you definitely will sacrifice sound quality, though.

mp3 is the best way to go, as long as you provide one with a small bitrate (for people with slow modems), which won't have such great quality, along with a regular one (between 128 and 192 kbps are considered "cd quality").

i use wav format and convert it with sonic foundry programs or just musicmatch jukebox.

is there a way the file for "hey bobby" can be recorded or converted as an shn file? if so, there is software called mkw audio compression tool which will compress the the file to wav with no loss of sound quality.
