London, England...considered yourselves...WARNED  Reply with quote

I saw a statue of Sherlock Holmes....I hung from his bronze cock at half mast screaming, "I COME FROM THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD!"

the unsuspecting crowd erupted into a massive applause and it rained flower pedals for the rest of the day.

so anyway...

umbrellas with hooked handles.
people driving on the wrong side of the road. that's right...I said the WRONG side of the road. It is very disquieting. I refuse to get used to it...these people drive like maniacs on the wrong side of the road. Mopeds whiz by nearly hitting the side mirror of ever car they pass. I am thinking about sticking my arm out and clotheslining one of these fuckers.

the cab driver didn't understand how I could be in England doing hiphop.
"Isn't rap...black music?"
"yeah. just like everything else. it's all black, friend. it's a black black world. now shut up and drive me to my cipher"

buildings are old and short.
you have to pay for water.
I haven't seen as many mangled mouths of rotted teeth as I had expected.

The show last night was very fun. There wasn't enough room for me to move around so I stood on a chair and hoped the people in the back could see me. It must really suck paying to get in a club and being unable to view the performer.

The crowd was very receptive to my long set. They didn't sing along as much as they SHOULD HAVE...haha...but they paid attention and laughed during all the right parts.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to this show and maybe I'll see you in the future. Extra special props to Tom from Warp/Lex records for putting this show together and taking care of me.

It's been a wonderful experience so far. 4 more shows to go.

yeah--you gotta pay for water and if you're not specific about the fact that want "still water"-- they will bring you that bubbly stuff. Don't even try getting any ice.

Awful

I am performing all by myself.

I am traveling all by myself.

I booked tickets to England all by myself.

I'm a big boy now, mom. BIG...BIG like Ben.

I feel lucky to have so many cool people help me out when I need it.

It's times like these I am happy with path I chose in life.

Although...I went to bed depressed and lonely. That's the routine after an exciting show though.

yo TheDude, its dense voi, dry panties n' all..... i wasn't annoyed at the comments people were making towards england, i was just commenting on the fact that people have a certain view of places in their heads and think thats how it really must be (ie. australia= barbies, kangaroos, men with corks hanging off hats fighting crocodiles etc)..... you just went a bit schizo about whatever the heck i wrote..... i know england's a run down, negative, nasty piece of shit anyway..... but i'm used to it now.....

I, too, am feeling the "black black world" vox pop.

I think I'll call my next record "I'm Blacker Than Two Black Men In Blackface Singin' Mammy"

then I will hide in a bunker so I don't kick my OWN ass!

yeah dude, wow.... it was definetly a very good show.
The chair thing was quite hillarious but i think that's cos i was right down the front.
Nice to say Hi to Sage and put a face to the voice (the photos have always been quite vague).
I guess i wasnt too surprised that the show wasnt very Anticon-y, but i actually quite enjoyed the sort of hi=fi of it....
Sage, did you hear that guy down the front and your right, going "blap! blap! blap!" to the rhythm, and occasionally shouting "BO!!"
Well.... that's ALL the So Solid Crew say. I recomend you check them out, you will laugh.

BUT

What the FUCK was that band - im presuming THEY were the Surpreme Vagabond Craftsmen..... and im also presuming theyre a sort of post-modern spoof.... but spoof or not, sitting though that un-tuned guitar knees-up was torture.........

anyway, Sage said he'll be doing an in-store at Rough Trade on the 29th of july at 5pm. But WHICH ROUGH TRADE WILL IT BE?!?
Covent Garden one is tiny, but the one up north isnt that much bigger....
If anybody knows please let me know by email if possible.
thanks

Plastic People... 'Bo' etc.  Reply with quote

Hah! I was standing next to the guy who was yelling out the "BO"s and the "BLAP"s. He really was quite loud wasn't he... He actually knew the words to everything Sage performed. Everything.

I thought it was fantastic. The ceiling seemed a little low for Sage and I saw a couple of unfortunate head bumps, but yeah - he was incredible.

I would guess the in-store is at the Covent Garden one, I saw Dose perform there last year but I could be wrong. Phone them up and see!
