So - what do we think?  Reply with quote

I see questions for Sage...I see comments on the show (that I'm looking forward to with great anticipation)...all sorts of shit.

But what I do NOT see is anything like we used to have.

I don't know if the new color scheme has gotten to our brains or what (I adapt slowly to change)...but...when all is said and done I have a confession to make.

I ABSOLUTELY ABHOR SMALL TALK.

So....what do you think? I want to know...

Republican motivational speech
Anti-immigration laws
Disparities between rich and poor
Conspiracy theories
Pornography
Abortion
Drugs and/or drug laws

Whatever...I want to see some real hardcore soul searching like we used to have. I fucking hate small talk - lets talk about these things again.

I like that stuff. It helps me solidify or change my opinions when other people present their arguments - and these types of discussions are what an Internet message board is most successful in mediating because it eliminates the issues of:

A. People getting angry and yelling over each other.
B. People not having the time to articulate properly what they are trying to convey

So...let's do this. :-)

Peace,
Luke Skywalker

ha. you overloaded people in one post, Shane.

Jezuz is the panti-christ

hey...what's this about a new color scheme? Are people seeing something that I'm not? It's black and gray just like the old board.

I do agree that we should have more informative and productive conversations taking place. I think everyone is still feeling out the new territory though.

Same colors, different location.

And I'm not saying it doesn't look nice.

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall..."

"Non-Prophets dot com" (in booming voice).

But still...it's weird, y'know?

I forgot vegetarianism and veganism...animal rights...HUMAN RIGHTS...welfare reform...education...

I think that lack of good discussion is probably one of the biggest reasons this world is dying (from a human perspective).
^^^^^^^^
See? This is what I hate about me. I could have made this a quick joking enjoyable post and I had to get all fucking deep.

Bah. I need to engage in more small talk I think. The weather is nice.

Peace,
Shane

...also take into consideration that some dont want to talk about "important" stuff all the time. For some it might be a means of escape. Take me for consideration, a normal, simple minded folk only posts when Im at work. I have to pretend to be smart at work, I dont want to do it on the message board.

....whew..I cant take the pressure

I can see your point though, "it" could stand a little more meat

You want to know something? My brother is rapidly dying from ALS...and this is not a plea for sympathy or comisseration, but an admission that since he's been so sick, I have cut down on my reading and extemporaneous thinking.

I did read a good book about the Five Points slum in NYC, though.

Sorry.

Reggie,

Don't be sorry - I wasn't accusing anyone in particular.

I wish the best for your brother, send some love his way for me - would you?

I gotta meet your ass (pause).

If you come to the show, you find me.

And yeah...I understand sometimes people don't want to talk about important things...that's why you just skip that thread. ;-)

The God talk is nice, though...just saw that one.

Peace,
Shane

well if you want it:

Republican motivational speech: politicians are politicians and i dont trust them any further than i can throw them.
Anti-immigration laws: people who go through the proper channels are welcome, illegals can be sent back to their country by giant slingshot for all i care.
Disparities between rich and poor: not ideal, but better than alternatives
Conspiracy theories: funny
Pornography: a good thing
Abortion: im prochoice, its not ideal, but its better than having abortions illegal. plus who am i to say what a women can do with her body.
Drugs and/or drug laws: legalize and privatize them all, it rids this country of more problems than it creates.

I can't find anything wrong with pornography. As long as the participating parties are old enough to make their own decisions, I don't see any harm in it. They get theirs, you get yours.

Abortion. I'm sorry, I just can't seem to make myself care.

Drugs should be legal, or alcohol should be illegal. We should start making more sense. Why aren't drug laws the same as alcohol laws? I'm all about letting people do their thing, as long as it doesn't interfere with me doing mine.

Seventeen magazine has an article or something on how to dress "emo". Aww.

well there wasnt really a country here, and even if you count indian nations as countries they didnt have laws on immigration either. and lastly the indians certainly werent providing our children born on thier land with citizenship or any of the services that the US is providing to illegal immigrants now. i dont particularly care about them being here, but i do care that my tax dollars are going to them when they should be going ot US citizens.

Yes, they did. In fact, movement between various tribes was very restricted and the Native Americans along the East Coast were particularly vicious--they fought off the Vikings and Basques, you know. However, they did not have any provisional laws on not letting 3/4 of your people die from small pox brought by Conquistadores, nor did they have any tips on how to evade bullets.

Hmm...shelter, food, and basic survival skills, these were important things that were imparted by Native Americans. They also did welcome the foreigners into the Nation through normal payment--you know, that $24 in beads that the Dutch "bought" Manhattan with? That was supposed to be an entrance fee.

Don't worry, the bulk of your tax dollars aren't going to either group.

ill stand corrected on the indian points, but they still came from other places too, so now this argument is becoming a lot like the one about who belongs on the land in middle east.
