Oh my God, another post about this bullshit?

Let's take a look at one of the brilliant banners on the page:

Yes. It IS brilliant, even IF the Skull & Bones stuff is bullshit.

No, it's patently stupid. The banning of arms to these men was a formality, since the Russian peasantry and the Eastern European Jews weren't armed, except, for instance, small bands, like the Socialist Bundt, who were only using force against fellow, antagonistic Jews prior to the Nazi invasion. Shit didn't differ too much in the case of Mao.

It's an offensively evasive analogy. Argue for American gun ownership in the context of America, including its gun culture, its residential and economic makeup, and its crime trends, not by ducking behind deceptive historical parallels.

And that's my word.

Well, I disagree with your word.

History has shown that totalitarian states LOVE gun control.

And that is HISTORY, not your word, I'll give you that...but that's a detail. ;-)

Totalitarian states LOVE gun control?

Thats a very broad statement you make there. Beware of blanket statements. Always exceptions.

I can easily see some Totalitarian gov'ts prefering a weapons proliferation Divide and Conquor strategy. (Similar to easily accesible cheap Saturday Night Specials in the ghetto.)

All the upperclass would have to do is live in brick bullet proof buildings and drive bulletproof cars.
Which is odd, cause many already do here in the US. We here on the street level don't live in such a reality as policy makers do.

Stalin, Hitler and Mao are also out of context. In times when rifles were the extent of the military capability in many areas, gun control might be an answer to suppressing the populace.

That's no longer the case.

Totalitarian equations is so 40 years ago. We've got from that, to drug czars, and now we're on terrorists. You should have equated gun control to terrorists if you want to use effective inflammatory rhetoric like you're doing.

(something like, if you want to defend the country locally, we need a well armed populace. It worked in the state of Minnesota here to get concealed weapons permits passed. I cannot imagine the fanciful cowboy dreams of thwarting the fundamentalist Islamic radicals the dudley doorights must have been thinking of when they passed that. And boy, are the cops pissed and jumpy these days)

Effective inflammatory rhetoric is great for inspiring fear, but has no basis in logic or reasoning. Advertizers and Public Relations firms have known for years that fear is the prime motivator. Zits, body odor, imaginary communists, crack dealers, and soon, terrorists. Not that terrorists don't exist. Just not to the extent they are going to play it out. Keep em huddled around the flag, shivering and shell shocked, and they can motivate the populace to do anything. Hitler. Stalin. Mao. go arm yourself. That's a good one.

Anybody know what the terror elevation level is today?

I hear gated communities are all the rage in Suberbia these days.
"Its better to put on slippers than to carpet the world"
I cannot believe I just quoted Stuart Smally.

i didnt say it 6 months ago but i did post something similar on the anticon board the night of the iowa caucus. cnn reported live on air that bush and kerry were both members of s&bs. you know when a secret society is being openly discussed in the media these muthafuckers are coming out of the shadows. a police state will be made presentable to the public. globalism will be offered as the best solution against terrorism. this is my conspiracy.

This isn't a conspiracy people. It's just the way things are.

Bilderburger Group. Trilateral Commision. UN. Now those are fun conspiracy theories. You're a bunch of amatures.

Skull and Bones? Please. Don't make me laugh.

I suggest some of y'all might want to cut down on your marijuana intake, you are starting to scare the children.

Again, you want to find where the smell is coming from, just follow the money.

It's not so fanciful as y'all make it sound. Rich kids frat. big deal. The presidency has always been a rich kid's frat. Are you just waking up this year?

Oh, wow. History has shown it, in the fuzziest, least comparable terms. Comparing the American gun control debate to the notion of perseonal arms bans in totalitarian regimes like Hitler's, Stalin's, or Mao's is an absolute trope.

I mean, looking at the anti-gun lobby in America, what do you see that at all resembles the opposition to civilian armament in those dictatorships? Did they have a Million Mom March before the Cultural Revolution in China? Is George W. Bush, a general foe of rights like privacy, due process, and free speech just as much of an enemy of gun ownership?

My final question is, how could you even begin to make such a ludicrous parallel when its flaws stare you in the face?
