Sage, what did you think of his/her interpretation of your words? Well-represented?

How weird it must be to have a college student write, arguably the most important paper of their college career on something you've written.

I continue to be completely weirded out by those things.

Especially since I faked all of my school papers.

haha

30 page papers....all material and all references faked.

come take the diploma away...I can't live with myself.

oh, and give me my $60,000 back too

Aside from being weirded out were you happy with what was said?

This is such a great example of how the underground hip-hop culture is different than the mainstream rap culture. Could you imagine a thesis being written on "Up in Here", yikes.

I received business degree(s) so I know a thing or two about bullshit, though I didn't make up 30 pages worth (pretty impressive) I'd feel better about going to college if I walked away with something other than a little piece of fancy paper and a fatty monthly loan payment.

I do believe many college thesis papers are written on the exact kinds of songs you just referenced.

I was honored by the time and energy he spent in breaking down the symbolism.

It appears that he spent much more time thinking about it than I did.

But with art...the more you think the more you stink. That's what my friend Neil thinks anyway.

I'm on a quest to find an intellectual take on songs like that, maybe i'll learn something, like an appreciation for shitty music :)

Beautiful things are often distorted when our insecurities influence our scrutiny of them. If the process of creating one's art was that intense it would be impossible to release it on the world, insomanywords, you'd be giving them too much of yourself (pronouns = hypothetical)

Wow, very well written, took me nearly an hour :( Damn... but it was cool because I listened to most of Personal Journals while I went through it.
