why dont they just ban companies like Memorex from producing burnable cds??

I Think it was a fair jab that downloading music and copying a cd by burning it are essentially the same thing, but memorex doesent get any flack for making writeable cds and police dont go around confiscating writeable cd's full of music because there is nothing illegal about having them.

i dont think we r putting anyone into debt that they cant possibly pay off here.

the record companies are hurting themselvs. Radio is their primary form of advertising. they have neglected this by playing only the same shit. they dont realize that people are growing board with the same thing all the time. talent does exist out there but their focus is on a few artist that sell big. the are often trying to engineer albums to sell. i dont support downloading music only because it is better when you buy the CD. record companies just need to provide a larger variety of music on the radio.

Oh I thought they were actually suing people for 150,000 per song.

People may already all know this but....
In Canada around 40% of the charge for blank cd's goes to the recording industries to make up for their loss. So they got that base covered, now all they need to do is start increasing the prices of Ipod's and they might forget about all this suing non-sense.

I didnt think the harm was in teh actual downloading of a song.....if it cant go beyond the computewr who gives a fudge cuz alot of songs are streamed for promotion anyways.....

i thought it was the burning and distribution of the songs that angered the companies....

ONE QUESTION - in a household of say 4 or 5 people who all download songs, who do they decide to sue out of the family?
